Acquisition of Nidec Copal’s Potentiometer & Encoder Business
Tokyo, Japan, November 13, 2018 – NIDEC COPAL ELECTRONICS CORP. (NCEL) and NIDEC COPAL CORP. (NCPL) today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which NCEL will acquire NCPL’s Potentiometer and Encoder business.
NCEL and NCPL have been in a long term partnership where NCPL designs and manufactures Potentiometers and Encoders (the Products) mainly for the industrial segment and NCEL markets and distributes the Products. NCEL has made a strategic decision to expand the “Position Sensor” business which led to the decision to acquire NCPL’s designing and manufacturing capabilities. The integration will bring speed and efficiency to the entire business process and enhance the competitiveness of the Products.
The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of January, 2019.
